New Beginnings

New beginnings are everywhere in our lives. They are opportunities for us to redirect our course, no matter why we might be off course. And let’s face it, we are human beings and in our being human, we get off course once in awhile. It happens to the best of us.

However, have you ever noticed how much we beat ourselves up for getting off course or making mistakes? It is true that we are our own worst critics!

I confess that recently I have allowed a couple of old patterns back into my life – this, after working hard over the past 10 months of working to clear myself of them. Like I said before, it happens to the best of us. And oh, how I have beaten myself up for letting them back in. That’s my human side – I accept that.

Unfortunately, when we get a new beginning as the result of making mistakes, too often we see the new beginning as a mark of failure, thus burdening the new beginning with self frustration and negativity. Beating ourselves up like that allows for stress, self frustration, and a lack of balance into our lives. I, for one, would like to help change that perspective.

Like many of you, I am keenly aware of how much power we have over our own attitudes and perspectives of things. Instead, let’s choose to look at each new beginning as a marker of success. Why? Because each failure/mistake/side trip off course that we choose to stop/change/return to course represents a lesson learned, and learning from these things is how we grow as human beings. Let’s appreciate the chance to learn and grow – and say thank you to the universe/divine/spirit/god (whatever your beliefs are).

So, I ask you – how will you choose to view your next new beginning?
